Overcoming Fears

We had a big break through this weekend. *Reminder: Thurs - Fri is our weekend.* We rode in two elevators and Gabriel did NOT freak out! It was amazing, he started laughing nervously and then said, "I'm a big boy now, I not scared!" Way to go little dude - he also fearlessly climbed into all the gopher holes at the Lincoln Children's Museum and even went down a slide by himself. I have some more pictures of our adventures on Shutterfly.

Slow Down

My daughter is growing up much too fast. An almost 5 year old now, she has lost her first two teeth and is halfway through her preschool year. Not only that, her "favorite" friend at school is a BOY.

We have a chart on our refrigerator, where she can earn "plus marks" and if she gets enough, she earns a movie night. With her last movie night, she invited her cousin, Kaitlyn over for a slumber party. She just earned enough pluses for another movie night and...

Krista: I want to have a slumber party with Trevor!
Me: Trevor... from school?
K: Yes, and I want us to watch that movie with the dogs (Alpha and Omega).
M: But, honey, Trevor's a boy (stating the obvious, as if she didn't know).
K: I know he's a boy and I don't care. I don't care if he's a boy, I want him to have a sleepover with me.
M: You'll have to talk to Papa...

And so it begins....

Yes, Ladies

He works with trucks, fixes things around the house AND does the dishes... although.... he does still require you to change his pants occasionally.

Night Crawlers

Logan has a new game. He just loves throwing things and laughing. He laughs even harder when his big brother comes along, laughing, and picks up the thrown item. In order to solicit more laughs, he throws the item again and the process repeats.

Now imagine bedtime. All three of the kids share one room. The last 3 days, after shutting the bedroom door, this is what I've heard:

L: gah Goo GAH! BAM
G: (laughing) Logan! thump thump thump thump... WAM BAM
L: (laughs and screams)
G: thump thump thump thump womp eek
L: Aaaah, GAH! BAM
G: (laughs again) thump thump thump thump... WAM
L: (squeals and laughs)
G: thump thump thump thump womp eek

I quietly and quickly ran to the door. I wait until I hear the first set of thumps and I pop open the door. Thump thump womp eek! With the biggest eyes ever, Gabriel runs across the floor and launches himself back into bed. He then buries his face and pretends to be asleep. Really? I just saw your guilty bottom running across the room.

Gabriel felt it was his duty to pick up Logan's stuffed lovey dolls after he would pitch them from the side of his crib. This was to the utter delight of his baby brother who loved this game. After a stern cease and desist order, the boys finally went to bed.

The following night, they attempted the same game on Nana's watch with a similar ending. A discussion was had with Gabriel and we discussed the fact that if Logan throws the toys, he is done with them. We'll see if this helps the situation and if tiny feet are on the run tonight.

Now, I'm not talking about a cute Dragon - no, I'm talking about a cute little girl. Wasn't it only yesterday that she grew these teeth?

Krista: 4 Months Old
And now they are just a memory...
