Another Day, Another Cold

The weather is so nice and warm outside. It's not too hot out and the snow is gone, hooray! Here at the Hatchell House, we were excited for upcoming outdoor play. And then it hit, that one last cold of the season got us. I believe it started with Gabriel. A runny, gross nose and water eyes were his symptoms. He was crying at nap time because he couldn't breath through is nose and he could not part with his pacifier long enough to breath through his mouth... Krista and Logan had a slight runny nose, but didn't seem to be hit as hard.

I think I got hit the hardest. Maybe I'm just a whiner on this cold, but I feel tired and have a runny/clogged nose and sore throat. I'm hoping it's a short-lived cold, because I want to go out and play, too!

Creepy Man

Sometimes after a nap, Gabriel can really creep us out. One day we were all downstairs playing Krista's Princess Wii game and I turned around to see Gabriel standing very still at the bottom of the stairs. He was just standing there silently, staring at us accusingly. I didn't hear him walk across the floor upstairs or go down the stairs. I just turned around and there he was, with no smile on his face, just a glazed over look in his eyes.

On another occasion, I was in the living room right next to his bedroom and I didn't hear him get up. I just looked into the hall and there he was. He was standing still as a stone and staring into the room at me.... I wonder what he's thinking...

Sunday School

Krista: Jesus carried his cross for us, Papa.
Josh: Very good, Krista, that's right.
K: Did somebody help Jesus?
J: Yes, Simon...
K: Simon, Simon..
J: Krista, let me finish the story before you interrupt. Simon was very nice and helped Jesus carry the cross because it was so heavy. Wasn't that nice of Simon?
K: But Papa, Simon didn't want to help at first!

Krista's absorbing the bible stories from Sunday school and apparently Josh can't glaze over the stories for her anymore!

Grown Up

According to Krista, she is going to be a nurse when she grows up. She said Gabriel is going to be a basketball player and Logan is going to be a football player. In her words, "They're both boys, so they'll both be ball players."

Perfect Meal

Me: Gabriel, what do you want for dinner?
G: Chicken! (The standard first response.)
M: Um.. we can do that. What else do you want with chicken?
G: 'ow 'bout... carrots!? (A new favorite.)
M: Good choice, buddy, carrots! We can have that. What else do you want?
G: (Mischievous grin) Ice Cream!!? (He really thought he was on a role!)

He got "ogurt" (yogurt) as a substitute and was just as happy with the alternative. He's a smart lil' bugger trying to get what he wants.

Spring Fever

It's hit hard this year, most likely due to the extremely snowy, ferociously cold winter we've had. The weather is hitting the mid 40's and I have my windows open to the bright sunlight. The sun really magnifies the dust bunnies in the corners that need to be picked up. The urge to deep clean is strong, but a crying baby makes that task a little harder to accomplish.

I tend to have only a few short spurts of time in order to accomplish anything and I usually only get the basics done, laundry, dishes and toy pickup. And in this case, the occasional blog entry - since I had both the boys sleeping for a bit. Times up, Logan is crying for attention again!! Maybe I'll get 10 minutes later to vacuum...

The Narrator of Our Lives

My world is now improved with my own narrator. It's like living in a book, where every action is described. Here was our morning as Josh was getting up:

Gabriel - Papa, wake up. Papa get out of bed. Papa go potty. I move. Papa go to Walgreens? Papa put on shoes. Papa go to work! Papa go outside. I jump. I play with toys?!

This, of course, is peppered with toddler tantrums and the lovely high-pitched squealing/screaming thing he does intermittently.
